Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa

Dr Kristen Hopper (Research Associate in the Department of Archaeology, Durham University )
Professor Graham Philip (Department of Archaeology, Durham University)
How can remote sensing improve documentation and protection in archaeology?
Heritage sites across the Middle East and North Africa are at risk from urban expansion, agricultural intensification, a changing climate, and of course, conflict. Using high resolution satellite imagery we can rapidly document and monitor damage and threats to these sites. Join us to hear about the challenges facing heritage professionals in protecting and preserving cultural heritage, and how we are undertaking training with local heritage agencies in Iraq and Lebanon.
