Artificial intelligence: the future for cancer research?
Dr Edward Law
(Northern Institute for Cancer Research)
Artificial intelligence (AI) has changed the way we live. From automated facial recognition on Facebook to predicting what films you will like on Netflix: we all interact with AI on a daily basis. Now, AI is moving into cancer research, diagnosis and even treatment. As our understanding of cancer grows ever more complex, AI will become an essential tool in order to maintain progress. But what exactly is AI? What are the benefits, what are the challenges, and what ethical issues must we face?
