Eating a varied diet: the good, the bad and the ugly

We are often advised to ‘eat a varied diet’. But have you ever wondered why? Does it really make that much of a difference to our health? We will explore the good and the not so good things about having variety in our diets and how it can be used to help make our meals and snacks more satisfying. We will also consider the role of food variety in some downright weird products that definitely did not fly off the shelves.


Can nutrition make you smarter?

Sandwiches, orange juice, fish, potatoes, chicken, meat... which of these nutritious foods can make you think smarter? Here in Swansea, there is a group of researchers trying to figure out exactly that! This talk will contain discussion how we can use different experiments (rat experiments, memory experiments, fear experiments, and human cells experiments) and new and exciting MR scan experiments to answer this question!
