Clever, emotional, perceptive: the life of a goat

​There is a common public perception that goats (like many animals) are not particularly clever. In this talk I will present some of our research showing that goats are good at learning to solve and remembering novel problems, how they express their emotions, as well as distinguishing happy and angry human faces.

Why do we have friends?

We live in a social world where we maintain friendships with many other individuals. Why do we do this? Evolutionary research on other social animals tells us this behaviour is deeply rooted in our past. I will discuss how and why many animals maintain social relationships and what this might tell us about out own social lives
