Our brains are comprised of a complex network of cells. Their highly regulated communication is vital for maintenance of brain function. Altered regulation of this network can result in various disorders. Our speakers Tony and Marc will discuss how pain and epilepsy manifest in the brain and how new technology and modelling can help us further understand the biology.

No gain No pain
Our brains make moment by moment choices about pain perception depending on the situation. These decisions are often made subconsciously and involve the release of morphine-like substances and other neuro-chemicals within our brains. We will explore how these brain systems work in health, how they malfunction in disease and discuss new technologies that may provide ways to harness their power to switch off pain.
