No Rhythm or Reason: How your body synchronises to its surroundings

Why is time measured in seconds, minutes and hours? Why do we need to sleep to stay fit and alert? Why is winter time depressing to some people? Ever had no clue where you are in Ikea, forgotten where you left the car or take short cuts that bring you out somewhere completely unexpected? This talk will be about my research looking at how we learn to find our way around, remember where things are and how to keep track of where we are. Ed will talk about how we might help patients with Temporal Lobe epilepsy combat spatial memory problems and also show how nostalgic cues and anxious feelings can affect our ability to find our way round in opposing ways using virtual environments.
