It's Not Only a Twitch

Hasnain Lalji (PhD Student, Department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology)
A talk highlighting the importance of being aware of Tourette's syndrome, a commonly misunderstood condition. This talk falls within Tourette's awareness month and if it is understood well by the public it is less stress to the patient and the patient may not require medications for it most of the time (medications have their own side effects like reducing metabolic rate and causing obesity).

Should Obesity be Classified as a Disease?

Dr Fiona Gillison (Head of Department, Department for Health)
My research interests lie in investigating how we can support people to improve their health behaviours to prevent and reduce obesity. This is an important and highly topical area given that more than half of the UK’s adult population are now classified as overweight or obese, which has significant consequences not only for these individuals but also for society. My primary research interest is in investigating how we can support people to improve their health behaviours to prevent and reduce obesity.
