Have you ever heard 'change your brain, change your life'? What if there was a pill or a machine that could make everything different?  Come join Roland & Chris and explore new ways of rewiring the brain. The function room is on the first floor above Green Park Brasserie.  THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE FUNCTION ROOM THROUGH THE BRASSERIE.  The stairwell is to the left of the Brasserie, opposite the large noticeboard. We apologise but there is no wheelchair access.

Erasing unwanted memories

What if we could erase unwanted memories? It's a disturbing prospect invoked by scenes from films like 'Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind', where people pay to have heart-breaking memories erased from their minds. Come join Chris as he talks about our understanding of memory formation and storage and how erasing 'unwanted' memories could really help to treat disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder and addiction.

New circuits for old: How easy is it to rewire your brain?

We know that in the case of damage to the brain neuronal circuits can be gradually reestablished to recover function. But do we rewire the brain on a more rapid basis than in our day to day lives? Join Roland to explore the ways in which which brain circuits can be physically modified, how we use this rewiring to help us think and behave normally, and whether we can use drugs to artificially rewire the brain to make us smarter!
