On the first night of our Planet Earth - Sponsored by the Deep Special we'll hear about plastic pollution and how seagrass can help fight climate change.
Reducing Plastic – how can you help save the earth?
Kirsty Old
(Speaker)
Plastic pollution in our oceans is increasing every year. Recent studies show that 100% of marine turtles exhibit marine plastic pollution. With over 150 plastic bottles littering each mile of UK beaches it's time we started to clean up. Join Kirsty to find out more on the extent of the plastic problem and what you can do to help.

Seagrasses, though often overlooked, are imperative to marine environments. Referred to as “Ecosystem Engineers”, seagrass provide a number of goods and services both on a physical and chemical scale. From food and shelter to enhancing water quality, and even preventing coastal erosion, what would we do without them? Well sadly we may not have to wait long to find out. Seagrasses are in global decline with some species even facing extinction. But what does this mean for our oceans? And, how is their decline influencing climate change?
