Are all bacteria bad? Are dinosaurs really extinct? Join us on our second Creative Reactions night, and we might just have all the answers! Giulia Tomasello —interaction designer and researcher—creates wearable bacterial devices to empower women. Artist/neuroscientist (yes, those exist!) Matt Young and researcher/science-communicator Tom Hartman are going to amuse us with dinosaur-themed art!

Giulia Tomasello (Artist)
Even though invisible to our eyes, our microflora has a symbiotic relationship with the interface between our body and the environment, our skin. Giulia Tomasello will be discussing Future Flora, which aims to incentivise this symbiotic relationship. Future Flora is a harvesting kit for women to treat and prevent vaginal Infections, and aims to encourage women to participate in the culture and the knowledge of science.

Matthew Young (Artist/neuroscientist )
Matt is neuroscientist by day, and an artist by night – literally. As an artist, Matt works under the name of The Scientist’s Ink and creates bold, colourful painted pieces that draw inspiration from his lab work, space and the natural world. He will be talking about science, art, comedy and how he manages to make them all work in the same space!

Tom Hartman (Teaching Associate)
Did someone say dinosaurs? (We did!) Tom Hartman will be discussing his experiences with public engagement, and discussing his collaboration with Matt Young. And we've got our fingers crossed from some tips on how to extract DNA using kitchen equipment - yep, you heard us!
