How can technology and biology work together? During the first night of the “Tech Me Out” series, you’ll see how technology can interface with a system engineered by evolution over millions of years: the human body. Over a pint or two, you will learn about the intricacies of a bionic arm, presented by Open Bionics, and about Sit-ski, which brings accessibility to the experience of skiing. You’ll also get to interact with the tech itself! Come to see the present and future of machinery made for us.

Using robotics, 3D printing, and art to change lives!

Paula Maddox (Electronic Engineer)
The challenges faced when trying to create an affordable and advanced bionic limb. Open Bionics engineer Paula Maddox will discuss how a small startup in Bristol built the world’s first medically approved 3D printed bionic small enough to fit 8 year olds.

Sit-ski makes skiing accessible

Scott Hillier (Para alpine skier)
Imagine you’re a professional athlete. You’re successful, and you really need your body. Now imagine that’s taken away from you in an accident. That’s Scott’s story. But it’s not stopped him. The technology of Sit-ski has enabled him to continue in professional sport. Come and find out what engineers need to consider to create equipment fit for international sport from one of the people who know best.
