Leishmania, trypanosoma, helminths, Oh My! This night with researchers from the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Parasitology will take you on a whirlwind tour of some of nature's most fascinating organisms - parasites!

Addressing Global Health

Dr. Poppy Lamberton (Principal Investigator)
Poppy's lab uses data, experiments and genetics to better understand neglected tropical diseases such as schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminths and onchocerciasis. In this talk, Poppy will introduce her fascinating research in the fight for health equality!

All About Leish!

Jessie Howell (PhD Student)
Jessie's talk will describe the human infective parasite Leishmania, and some of the technologies she is using to investigate how it replicates. Replication is essential to the cells’ survival, so by understanding this process, we have a better chance of knowing how to fight infection.

Powering the Parasite Powerhouse

Dr. Shikha Shikha (Parasitology Researcher)
Perhaps one of the things we all remember from school biology is 'the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.' Well, for Shikha's research that's certainly relevant! Learn about the fascinating biology of parasites and how important energy really is!
