I am a second year PhD researcher at the University of Birmingham focussed on an interdisciplinary project combining oceanography, climatology and palaeontology. I am also a scientific editor of a journal's newsletter and the NERC CENTA Blog, alongside conducting numerous outreach activities.

Charlotte Bird
City Coordinator & Planet Earth Event Manager
As a 3rd year doctoral researcher at the University of Birmingham, I study vertebrate palaeontology and love sharing my research through blogs, illustrations and animations. In my downtime, you'll find me knitting, travelling and photographing nature.

I am a final year PhD student working with Lasers and Nonlinear Optics. I am also the President of Aston SPIE/Optica Student Chapter with a keen interest in Photonics Outreach.

Sue Smith
Event Manager
I am head of brand reputation and events at Aston University. I’m not a scientist, but am fascinated by the research conducted by our scientists. Outside work I love going to gigs and festivals, eating out and working off the excess by trying to learn aerial circus skills – very badly!

I am a Grants and Contracts Officer at Aston University. I am a Biochemist/ Biophysicist and even though I have moved on from being a researcher I am still very keen to keep up with new development in science. I try and challenge myself with running to raise money for charity (I don’t like running)...

I’m a 2nd year PhD student in Chemistry at the University of Warwick. My research focuses on the chemical transformation of nitrous oxide (N2O), a potent greenhouse gas. I love science and I love pints so I’m looking forward to combining these things by taking part in my first Pint of Science!

Grace Ball
Atoms to Galaxies Event Manager
I'm a 1st year PhD student in Chemistry at the University of Birmingham, researching luminescent silica nanoparticles as drug delivery systems. I'm interested in bridging the gap between physical science and biology, as well as communication of scientific research to the public.

Grady Beckett
Atoms to Galaxies Event Manager
Before starting my chemistry PhD last year, I graduated from Warwick with a masters in physics. My work in frustrated magnetism essentially takes magnetic elements and grows them into a crystal that won't let them be magnetic. In my free time I do white water kayaking and paddle down waterfalls.

Our Body Event Manager
I am a Pharmacy Masters of Research Student looking at nanoparticles as a drug delivery system for cancer treatments. I graduated in 2021 with a BSc in Biological Sciences. I am also a competitive swimmer and have competed in BUCS and national events for the University of Birmingham since 2018.

Kathryn Frost
Our Body Event Manager
I am a first-year PhD student in the institute of inflammation and ageing at the University of Birmingham. My project investigates a novel inducer of bone remodelling, focusing on use in osteoporosis and bone healing. I’m excited to be involved in Pint of Science to make science more accessible!

Imogen Wilson
Our Body Event Manager
I am a first year PhD, partnered with the University of Birmingham and Newcastle University. I aim to investigate functional consequences of B cell and fibroblast interactions in Rheumatoid arthritis. I look forward to being a part of the work Pint of Science do to bring science into the community.

Rhiannon Moss
