Do not try and bend the spoon: that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth: there is no spoon! Join us for amazing talks by Fred on Virtual Reality and Artificial intelligence, and Jon on "Exergaming" with Nintendo games consoles!

Virtual Reality, Real Impact! – Can virtual reality actually be fun?

Dr Fred Charles
We will cover the current status of Virtual Reality and the importance of interaction by players with virtual worlds, meaning how AI technologies and techniques allow for different types of interaction between the player, the virtual world and the virtual characters populating these virtual worlds. Even more essential to creating compelling experiences for the player using VR is how the player in the virtual world can interact, interfere and influence what happens, whether consciously or not.

Virtual Reality, Real Impact! – So I can play computer games and improve my health... too good to be true?

Jon Robinson
Exergaming (exercise using computer-gaming technology) is a relatively new and promising option to encourage physical activity. It can facilitate positive improvements in physical and psychological health in healthy and clinical users. Exergaming may also be more acceptable and engaging than traditional means of exercise – which can positively affect exercise uptake and concordance. This presentation will introduce the concepts of exergaming, the previous literature, and its applications.
