Join us as we celebrate National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) with a series of short talks showcasing the work of postdocs across the department. It's a time to recognise and celebrate their efforts, and thank them for all they do! Goody bags and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Proteintech, who are supporting NPAW.

Scratching the surface of Retromer dysfunction in neuronal systems
Dr Emma Jones
(Research Associate, Cullen Laboratory)
In this talk I will present how our lab is aiming to understand the global consequences of Retromer dysfunction in multiple neurodegenerative diseases using biochemical and cell biology methods, including proteomic analysis of cell surface proteins in primary cultures of neurons and other supporting brain cells.
Structural characterisation of membrane-bound protein complexes by cryo-electron tomography
Dr Alex Walker
(Research Associate, Cullen Laboratory)
I will describe the purification, in vitro reconstitution, and structural analysis of proteins which associate with the endosomal membrane in order to coordinate the recycling or degradation of endocytosed material.
How DNA repair in sex cells underpins human fertility
Dr Oliver Wilkinson
(Senior Research Associate)
An exploration into how DNA is repaired in cells, and why efficient repair is crucial for human health and fertility.
