Come and hear from three brilliant speakers about the latest cutting-edge research into Alzheimer's disease and Dementia. Plus, many goodies to be won, including pint glasses and t-shirts! (Please note: event located on the first floor, only accessible via stairs.)

A window on ageing and dementia.

Ludovica Griffanti (Postdoctoral researcher)
Imaging the brain. Ludovica is a researcher at the Oxford Centre for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain (FMRIB). Tonight she will be talking about her current research which focuses on using advanced MRI analysis to understand risk for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

The Self-Cleaning Brain

Hazel Roberts (Postdoctoral researcher)
Hazel looks at how Alzheimer's disease genetic mutations affect the ability of microglia, the brain's immune system, to clear up debris. She studies this process using human microglia-like cells made from induced stem cells.
Hazel is a postdoctoral research scientist working as part of a collaboration between the ARUK Oxford Drug Discovery Institute, and the James Martin Stem Cell Facility, University of Oxford.

Treating Alzheimer's

Loukia Katsouri (Honorary Research Associate)
The quest to find a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease:
Loukia Katsouri studies inflammation in the brain in Alzheimer's disease using a type of cell called an induced pluripotent stem cell. She will discuss how her research is helping us to advance towards a treatment for Alzheimer's.
Loukia is a Research Scientist at the Alzheimer’s Research UK Drug Discovery Institute in the University of Oxford.
