Swanning around Lincoln
Dr Laëtitia Maréchal
(Associate Professor in Psychology)
Join us for a journey of swan discovery! The iconic Lincoln swan population, which has lived in the city for several hundred years, has declined over the last few decades. In 2020, a community science project was set up to better understand the reasons for this decline, and explore the health and ecology of the mute swans in and around Lincoln. This talk will discuss the fascinating findings of the Lincoln Swan Project, as well as test your own knowledge about our beloved swans!
Talking about animal welfare
Dr Beth Ventura
(Senior Lecturer in Animal Behaviour and Welfare)
Have you ever argued with someone about whether something is humane for animals? These debates often come down to differing opinions on what constitutes a good quality of life for animals. In this talk, we will untangle the various ways people perceive and value animal welfare. We'll explain why considering people’s perspectives on animal welfare is important to improve the lives of both animals and the people who rely on them.
