Wildlife from Space

Holly Houliston (PhD student at the British Antarctic Survey and University of Cambridge)
The development of satellite technology offers an exciting new approach for monitoring wildlife in polar regions. With the increasing volume of satellite imagery being collected, there is growing demand for automated methods to find and count wildlife within these images. In this talk, Holly will be showcasing the research conducted by the Wildlife from Space Centre, from whales to walrus, join us as we delve into the fascinating world of wildlife observation from space!

How Dinosaurs Turned into Birds

Bassel Arnaout (PhD Student at University of Cambridge)
Bassel is a PhD student working in two departments at Cambridge university. He is also a Canadian and a Syrian refugee with a passion for understanding evolution! His interest is understanding bone evolution over short and long time periods. To that end he uses insights from two fields of science to uncover how avian dinosaurs (birds) diversified into over 10,000 species with very different body shapes.
