Piloting a NASA Space Shuttle into space

Tony Antonelli (NASA astronaut and Commander US Navy (retired))
Tony has served as a Commander of the US Navy as well as being a Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School. As a pilot, he has accumulated over 3,200 hours in 41 different kinds of aircraft.

He was selected as a NASA pilot in 2000 and flew his first mission in space as the pilot of Space Shuttle Discovery in March 2009. He also served as a pilot on the Space Shuttle Atlantis.

Tony has logged a total of 24 days, 3 hours, 57 minutes and 35 seconds in space. He is the recipient of the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal and various service awards.

Astronomy at Leeds

Dr Catherine Walsh (University Academic Fellow )
Dr Catherine Walsh is a University Academic Fellow at the University of Leeds in the School of Physics and Astronomy. She is a world-renowned astrochemist and applies her skills to a range of topics from the formation of stars and planets to the composition of distant exoplanet atmospheres, and uses one of the biggest telescopes in the world in her research. Catherine is also active in science outreach and has participated in the Pint of Science, Soap Box Art and Science, and Be Curious festivals. She regularly delivers public talks at events, schools, and special interest groups in the Leeds and will give us a brief overview of her work.
