1 in 4 of us will experience some sort of mental health in our lifetimes. With this statistic set to rise, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. Our mental health night will cover some of the little ways we can gain back control of our minds and what is being done by organisations and charities to help take on this epidemic. Please note this event was formerly advertised to take place in the Tramstop Bar and Kitchen - this has closed down so the venue has now changed to Mettricks Guildhall.
Our Emotional Connection with Places
Dr Andy Myers
(Director, Walnut Unlimited)
We all know that places are special to us but the science, particularly neuroscientific evidence is surprisingly scarce. How exactly does your brain respond to a place that is meaningful to you? What is this bond between people and place, how do they make us feel and what benefits do they have. In this talk Andy will share an in depth case study exploring how our emotional connection with places was established using brain imaging (fMRI) and brought to life through in-depth quantitative and qualitative research.
