Why is my brain the right shape?

Professor Jon Clarke (Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, King's College London)
Jon will talk about our attempts to understand how cells in the embryo brain work together to shape the brain and why this is important.

Zombie neurons and the dark network

Dr Darren Williams (Centre for Developmental Neurobiology, King's College London)
Darren will talk about how programmed cell death is essential for sculpting neural networks in flies and reveal what happens when such doomed neurons are kept alive to become ‘zombie neurons’.

How mathematics could aid clinicians in diagnosing and treating epilepsy?

Dr Leandro Junges (Research Fellow, Living Systems Institute, University of Exeter)
Leandro will discuss how to apply and develop mathematical models and techniques using data from people with epilepsy, ultimately with the aim to support clinicians in diagnosing and treating epilepsy.
