Enjoying academic freedom at COP28

Dr Yaroslav Melekh (Research Fellow, Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources, UCL)
The good, bad and indifferent of a global convention in a critical time – hear about a climate researcher’s experience of COP28, the largest ever UN Climate Change Conference.

Where Have All the Insects Gone?

Dr Tim Newbold (Associate Professor, Division of Biosciences, UCL)
There have been many reports recently of big reductions in the numbers of insects worldwide. Some are even calling it an ‘Insectageddon’. In my talk, I will discuss what the evidence really tells us about insect declines. I will also explore the causes of insect declines, why this matters to us (look away now if you like coffee or chocolate!), and what we can do to help (it’s not all bad news!).
