Eye contact: what your eye movements reveal about you

Using an eye tracker to record people’s eye movements while they look around the world is of great interest for both diagnostic and research purposes. We recorded people’s eye movements in 2 different scenarios: while they engaged in making eye contact with an actor on a screen (akin to a Skype scenario) and while they engaged in “forced” periods of eye contact with another person in real life. We examined whether how participants looked another person reveals important information about themselves, and whether looking at another person on a screen is similar to looking at them in real life.
