Business and human rights have an uneasy relationship, with the big data issue casting a long shadow over the social media networking scene. From a very real threat to existential fear and anxiety, here death anxiety will be given a neurological presence in a way to understand this age old fear of death.

The denial of death 2.0: A neuroscience perspective on fear of death in humans

Elia Valentini (Lecturer)
Elia will guide you through the scary world of existential anxiety triggered by the awareness of death. He will discuss anthropological, psychological and neuroscientific evidence. He will uncover the complexity of this phenomenon through his recent research on the brain responses associated with death anxiety

Data – why it’s good to share

Christopher Coates (Communications Officer CER - Advancement)
You may not like how supermarkets, search engines and social media platforms use what they know about you, but research using data can help us build a better world. Chris will take a light-hearted look at how researchers use social, economic and population data to give us insights into how we live – which can change our lives for the better by shaping government policy. Giving our consent to ethical data-sharing can be not just socially responsible, he says, but a way of making our voices heard
