Cheers to that! The role of beer and pubs in local communities and economies

Ignazio Cabras (Professor, Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University. York Cross-disciplinary Centre for Systems Analysis)
Craft breweries are shaping consumers’ tastes in terms of beer variety, innovative brewing approaches and consumption trends. Pubs are benefiting from this new wave, some working in partnership with craft breweries, and some even bought and used by breweries as outlets for their beers. Both pubs and craft breweries are important employers and provide meeting points for entire communities, supporting many types of groups and activities. This session examines the social and economic impact of these businesses, providing new insights about the role they play in many local communities of Britain.
