We spend a lot of time thinking about what we eat - but what about our pets? In this event we will explore why some dogs are picky eaters and the impact of ultra-processed foods on your dog’s health. We’ll explore how processed ingredients in dog food might affect behaviour and well-being, and why certain breeds, like Poodles, are more likely to be fussy. Join us to uncover the science behind these canine eating habits!

Ultra-Processed Pets: Investigating UPFs in Dog Diets

Jasmeen Kaur (BioScience Research Innovator at Butternut)
More and more research is emerging that shows just how bad Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) are for us... but what about our pets? This talk will sniff out the truth about the current state of UPFs in pet foods, what the science says, and how to keep your pets living their best (and healthiest) lives!

Oodle of Poodles and Lots of Labs

Dr Ciara Clarke (In-house Vet and Research Lead at Butternut )
Know a Cockapoo who turns up their nose at dinner? Or a Labrador who doesn’t seem to know when to stop eating? There are thousands of pet parents who identify their dogs as being ‘fussy eaters’. This is a much larger problem than initially considered with many pet professionals dismissing these claims due to the thought it was a learned behavioural problem and not understanding the extent of the severity. There are countless behavioural studies conducted into fussy eating behaviours of children, however, there is not a piece of published academic research solely dedicated to the investigation of fussy eating in dogs! Join Vet Dr Ciara Clark for a deep-dive into the fussy behaviours of our favourite furry friends!
