Bacteria, Babies, Boobs
Dr Lydia Mapstone
(CEO of BoobyBiome)
What exactly are ‘good bacteria?’ What makes them ‘good’? Where did they come from? Come along and listen to Lydia give an overview of how your first gut microbiome developed! You will then be taken through Lydia’s journey on setting up her company, BoobyBiome, where she will describe the highs and lows of start-up life.
Feed your bugs to replace the drugs: the end of inflammation?
Professor Claudia Mauri
(Professor of Immunology)
Claudia will talk about how “bad” bacteria in the gut contribute to inflammation, find their way into places they shouldn’t be and cause problems throughout the whole body. Treatments correcting gut problems may help patients with a range of inflammatory diseases, and represent an exciting medical frontier. Food can be medicine, and in the future your prescription might even simply read “broccoli”.
