Join us to explore digital solutions for emergency response and fire safety, focusing on timely and consistent data sharing. We present research on open BIM-based workflows to prevent data issues in evacuation modelling and discuss the EU project RESCUER, enhancing First Responder operations with real-time data orchestration. Learn how smart data management improves safety and decision-making.
Empowering First Responders: Leveraging Technology for Smarter and Safer Responses
Professor Georgia Sakellari
(Professor of Networked Systems (Resilient Internet of Things))
The talk covers the EU project RESCUER, which developed a technology toolkit for next-gen First Responders (FRs), enhancing their safety and capacity in adverse conditions. It provides sense augmentation, precise self-positioning, cognitive support, and AR interfaces to improve focus and situational awareness. This talk highlights the Data Sharing Orchestrator (DSO), which regulates augmented information, preventing cognitive overload and network strain by prioritising messages based on metrics such as FR cognitive load, priority of information, network performance, and battery use.
Enhanced Data Sharing Through openBIM Enabled Digital Workflows for Evacuation Modelling
Dr Asim Siddiqui
(Research Fellow)
This talk is about the research on open Building Information Modelling (openBIM) based digital workflows in a built environment for evacuation modelling as part of fire safety. The traditional workflows suffer from data loss, causing inefficiencies and errors. Learn how openBIM can address these issues leading to seamless collaboration between stakeholders and efficient compliance checking with safety regulations. To showcase these benefits, the work on an international collaboration project called Information Delivery Specification for Occupant Movement Analysis will be presented.
