Poetry is the music of the soul, Physics is the study of motion, Dance is the language of the body. What happens when you fuse them together? This could be your only chance to WATCH THIS LIVE! Join us for our first Creative Reactions night featuring Claire Guest and Mark Fromhold. Our sci-art pair are going to give us a behind-the-scenes glance at what their respective artistic and scientific processes look like, followed by one of Nottingham’s best choreographers, Hal Mayer, coming to us with an intricate and intriguing piece.

Claire Guest (poet/chemical engineer)
Claire Guest is a poet/chemical engineer freshly graduated (by the time this is out she hopes!) from the University of Bath. She has performed at a variety of events, including the Bath and Cheltenham Literature Festivals, and Edinburgh Fringe. Claire was the Birmingham Young Poet Laureate 2012/2013, and this year, she'll be presenting the results of her collaboration with physicist Mark Fromhold for us!

Prof Mark Fromhold (Professor of Physics)
The physicist to Claire's poet, Mark will be joining us to talk about his work, his life, the universe, and everything! What happens when physics meets poetry? Find out, as Mark and Claire discuss their experiencing of bringing these two worlds together

Hal Mayer (Choreographer)
Hal Mayer is a movement artist from Nottingham, and has now performed and been programmed for stages such as the Royal Opera House, the Royal Concert Hall and the Lakeside Arts Theatre. He will be debuting his work for a project called ‘Xzibit’, drawing inspiration from stop motion films and The Theatre of Cruelty. His work consist of an amalgamation of artistic disciplines, ranging from hip hop dance to performance art
