Take a deep dive into the hidden worlds of our solar system’s most intriguing planets! Discover what lies beneath Mars’ surface from the groundbreaking InSight mission, and explore Jupiter’s vast magnetosphere and ocean-hiding moons. Two planets, countless mysteries—uncovered from the inside out.
By Jupiter!
Ingo Mueller-Wodarg
(Professor in Physics )
Jupiter, King of the planets, is a fascinating miniature solar system with at least 95 moons and a vast magnetic bubble around it commonly known as its magnetosphere. This invisible bubble forms the glue between the planet and many of its moons, helping draw angular momentum and mass from Jupiter and distributing it outward. Its largest moon Ganymede is thought to possess an internal water ocean, a possible habitat for life. How can we explore this fascinating world and what can we learn from it?

Uncovering Mars
Professor Tom Pike
(Professor of Microengineering)
The InSight mission, which operated from 2018 to 2022, provided the first chance to look deep inside another planet. I’ll talk through how we did this and what we found, and in particular how the interior of Mars differs from Earth in some unexpected ways...
