Tonight we delve into the fascinating area of fossils and see what they can tell us
So you want to be fossilised?: – Securing your legacy by increasing your fossilisation potential!
Dr Tim Astrop
(Palaeobiologist - Fossil Coordinator for the Brymbo Fossil Forest project)
This talk will introduce the audience to the scientific study of Taphonomy, the science of decay, and the many different ways that organic remains can be destroyed of altered before the lucky few enter the fossil record.

Where do you think you were?
Dr Tom Hughes
(Geologist - Volunteer Coordinator at Stori Brymbo)
Geology of the UK - We will look at a geological map of Britain and discuss why it looks like it does. Where are the oldest rocks? Where are the youngest? What evidence for Britain's geological history can be seen in the local area?
This talk invites attendees to explore their geological heritage as Dr Hughes describes the local geology, it’s fossil contents, ancient environments and deep-time processes that have shaped the local landscapes
