But something that we are not looking for and something no one wants to speak about; STIs. They’re a much bigger deal than people realize. Good news? Science is fighting back! Bad news? Not fast enough! In this talk, we’ll take a look into what is being done to tackling STIs. From next-gen antibiotics to vaccines and potential novel approaches. Until then, remember that the difference between love and herpes is that herpes is forever.

Ultra-processed foods have been all over the news lately. They have been linked to many diseases from cancer, to diabetes, to obesity, and it seems that these products are making us sick. However, are all those claims true? Through the decades, many products or ingredients have been listed as causes of diseases from fats to sugar. Now the villains in turn are ultra-processed foods. In my talk, we will debunk the myths that surround ultra-processed foods from what they are, their consequences on health and how they can be beneficial to some groups.

Frail bodies, wild lives

Frail bodies, wild lives presents findings from a sociological study exploring the relationship between older age, ethnicity and health. Photographs showing the experience of ageing, taken by 73 older people living in the East Midlands will be shared and discussed. The photographs show everyday lives lived in the context of individual past and present experience, including migration stories, employment history, cultural norms and values, parenthood, inequality and racism.
