Join us for a series of short talks and panel discussion exploring how technology is transforming the landscape of dementia diagnosis and care. From analysing brain scans and healthcare records to developing personalised AI models and memory-monitoring apps, our speakers will share cutting-edge research at the intersection of data science, clinical care, and ethical innovation. Discover how these advances are unlocking hidden patterns, enabling earlier detection, and helping tailor support to individuals and families navigating dementia.

Diagnosis of Dementia & Technology: Unlocking Hidden Patterns

Chloe Walsh (PhD Student and NHS Research Co-Ordinator)
Chloe will share how research using healthcare records can improve accuracy and timing of dementia diagnoses. Chloe will talk about her work in delivering NHS dementia clinical trials and explore how technology and AI offers an opportunity to make life better for people with dementia and their families.

An app to monitor very early signs of dementia

Julia Borella (PhD Student)
Julia will explain how monitoring memory with a new app, rather than standard pen-and-paper tests, could be used to improve detection of very early Alzheimer’s disease.

Data-driven dementia prognoses and implications for care planning and optimisation

Antigone Fogel (PhD Student)
Antigone will discuss how we can use hospital data to build machine learning models that provide personalised support to clinicians in predicting how dementia will progress uniquely for each of their patients.

AI and Brain Imaging for Dementia Diagnosis

Anastasia Gailly de Taurines (PhD Student)
Anastasia will be presenting how AI analyses brain scans to assist in dementia diagnosis. She will explore key brain regions linked to the disease, the potential of AI for early detection, and the ethical challenges of using machine learning in healthcare.
