We always hear about Dark matter, String theory and Hardcore physics, but what is it really about? This night you will have the chance to hear about how scientists are trying to further understand universe complexity both at broad (dimensional) and particle level. So if you are eager to find out more, grab yourself a ticket (and a beer too!)
Hidden Dimension
Professor David Berman
(Professor in Theoretical Physics)
This talk explains the idea of hidden extra dimensions of space and why we might believe they exist.
"I spy with my little eye... a zoo of particles!”
Dr. Marcella Bona
(Senior Lecturer in Physics, School of Physic and Astronomy)
The Large Hadron Collider at CERN is accumulating data allowing us physicists to improve our understanding of the world of particles and the fundamental forces of nature. It also gives us the possibility to search for unknown phenomena in an unprecedented regime of energy and in laboratory conditions. This talk will walk you through what we already know about the fundamental particles building ordinary matter, how particle physics experiments can see and measure these particles and how we can investigate what we still do not understand of the universe.
