Izzie Gibson
City Coordinator
Izzie is a final year PhD student interested in new biotech and how improving reliability of protein tools creates more efficient labs. She is passionate about bringing science to the public and ensuring people of all ages and backgrounds have access to exciting research being carried out today!

Kasia Hammond
City Coordinator
Kasia is a second year PhD student doing a structural biology project on cardiac proteins found in the cell membrane, which can cause heart disease when they don’t function correctly. This is her second year of Pint of Science and she can’t wait to help share all of the exciting science in Leeds!

Trent McLean-Ash
Event Manager - Our Society/Creative Reactions
Trent spent the first few years post-school as a butcher, baker, but lamentably never a candlestick-maker. Attending university following an access course, he now does a PhD in microbiology. He aims to use his non-scientific past to make science more open for people from varying backgrounds.

Anna McGrane
Event Manager - Our Body
Anna is a researcher centring her work around patients with heart disease and type 2 diabetes. She works on human heart biopsies to see how they process calcium, an essential component of heart health. Anna loved Pint of Science last year and can’t wait to get involved in organising this year!

Rosa Cassidy
Event Manager - Our Body
Rosa is a second year PhD student investigating new cell signalling networks which drive HPV-positive cervical cancer. It is her first year being a part of the Pint of Science team and she is really looking forward to getting people talking about the science going on in Leeds!

Jelizaveta Pavljuk
Event Manager - Atoms to Galaxies
Jelizaveta is a first year PhD student looking at molecule diffusion within the sugary cell coat, working at the interface between biology, physics and chemistry. She is excited to be part of the Leeds team this year and help make science accessible and inclusive.

Emma Ryder
Event Manager - Planet Earth
Emma, a postdoctoral researcher, specialises in structural biology in DNA repair. Her work involves isolating protein tools to understand specific protein-protein interactions. Inspired by last year’s Pint of Science talks, she is excited to get involved and help share more exciting science!

Ankitha Manohar
Event Manager - Planet Earth
Ankitha is a marine ecologist undertaking her PhD at the University of Leeds. Her interests are marine conservation, the science-policy interface and sustainable livelihood development. She is keen on making science accessible to a wider audience and facilitating multi-disciplinary collaborations.

Harriet Todd
Event Manager - Our Body
Harriet is a third year PhD student doing a cell biology project investigating the ‘first aid kit’ blood vessels produce and the effects of diabetes on it linked to cardiovascular health. She has attended pint of science events for years and is excited to get involved and help people enjoy them!

Zheng Jiang
Event Manager - Beautiful Mind
Zheng is an MRes student interested in cognitive neuroscience and decision-making, especially cognitive modelling. He is passionate about human behaviour and the neural-related mechanisms in behavioural studies. In his first year in Pint of Science, he wishes to help share the fantastic science!

Can Cheng
Event Manager - Beautiful Mind
Can is a PGR funded by the Food Standard Agency. She is looking to analyze risky kitchen behaviors thereby providing guidance for the FSA to set up risk models for food safety interventions and trainings in the future. She is looking forward to seeing everyone at the events this year!

Shreyosi Dutta
Event Manager - Beautiful Mind
Shreyosi has recently embarked on a journey to the intricate realms of neuroscience. Mysteries about human mind and behaviours fascinates her and channel into her enthusiasm for science and research. She finds joy in colours and canvases, deriving inspiration from nature.

Connie Harpur
Event Manager - Planet Earth
Connie is a second year PhD student in the Department of Geography, working on glaciers and lakes at the edge of the Greenland Ice Sheet. She enjoys sharing research with wider audiences and is excited to join for her first year on the Pint of Science team.
