Hi! I’m Druhi, a postgraduate student in Chemistry at the University of Manchester. I hope to pursue a PhD in the coming years. Interests: reading, collecting postcards, travelling, hogging good food. Pet peeves: noisy eaters, nose pickers. Guilty pleasures: korean dramas. Addictions: COFFEE!
I am a second year PhD student with previous experience in scientific industry. I am researching the interactions between different cancer medicines to treat skin cancer. My hobbies include public speaking, learning Italian and hiking. I’m looking forward to sharing scientific knowledge with POS!
I’m a first year PhD student studying the hardware security of integrated circuits. I’m really interested in innovative, bold, novel scientific ideas, and I want to share my enthusiasm for science with other people! I enjoy playing video games, learning foreign languages and snowboarding.
I am a third year PhD student working in the physics department at the University of Manchester. I have always been interested in the fields of neurobiology and psychology and look forward to organising some great events for the public to come, have a pint and learn about some interesting science!
After working in industry for several years, I have come back to university to expand my opportunities through a PhD in material science. I have been a going to Pint of Science talks for years and have found it is a great way to learn about things that aren’t necessarily my field.
I'm a 1st year PhD student investigating the molecular basis of vascular dementia. When I'm not looking at brains in the lab, I enjoy trying to play tennis, eating everything in sight and working in niche coffee shops.
I’m a PhD student in text mining (just submitted my thesis actually :D), looking at how people express and understand information, opinions and sentiments. I love hiking, climbing, travelling, meeting new people and getting into long conversations about pretty much everything, especially over pints!
I’m a 2nd year PhD student imaging the behaviour of macrophages in wound healing. Outside of the lab, you’ll find me running, taking photos, involved with science public engagement or enjoying a healthy relationship with whisky and wine.
Hi! I’ve just started my PhD researching the catalytic mechanism of enzymes with vanadium cofactors that halogenate substrates. My area combines computational modelling with biochemical lab work. My hobbies include reading, watching films, skiing and I’ve also just started to learn tango.
I’m a 3rd year PhD student, conservation biology is my jam. One of the best ways to protect biodiversity is through communication, and mobilising the public - art is one of the most powerful ways of doing this, hence Creative Reactions! When I’m not ‘PhDing’ you’ll find me in the sea, or the pub.
I’m a chemical engineering graduate and first year PhD student, trying to bridge the link between 2D materials research and industry. Look forward to me asking “so, have you heard about graphene?” at a POS event near you.
I’m a first year PhD student at UoM. My work involves studying enzyme kinetics at the MIB and I’m interested in exploring creativity in science! I enjoy climbing, dancing and cooking.
Hello! I am a first year PhD student investigating the products of liver drug metabolism, who has always been interested in how art and science collide. Outside of the lab I love visiting new places, a “swift” pint, music and most importantly pizza.
Science communication enthusiast and long suffering Sheffield Wednesday fan. Always looking for new excuses for going to the pub or talking about science. Luckily found both through pint of science.
I’m a first year PhD student researching the immunological links between lung infections and inflammatory skin diseases. Outside the lab, you’ll find me on top of a mountain, enjoying the beautiful views of the UK’s countryside, or capturing them on a canvas!
I am a final year PhD student working on how tumour stiffness affects the progression of pancreatic cancer. Sharing research is one of the best parts of science, especially when it’s set in a cosy pub! Outside of the lab, I love being outdoors, travelling, and food.
I am a PhD student at the University of Manchester developing biomarkers to screen for lung cancer. I think it’s important to tell the public about the research we’re doing and get them as excited as we are about it, plus it aids my research, making me think about it from different points of view. O...
I’m a pharmacist, in my 1st year PhD in the UoM looking into the cardiovascular side effects of drugs used to treat arthritis, such as heart attacks and strokes. Find me somewhere on a mountain hiking or running on sunnier days, occasionally surfing (still working on the theory of balance).
I am a 2nd year PhD student looking at the role of macrophages in the placentas of babies who are born too small. When I’m not in the lab I enjoy being in the outdoors especially running, climbing and skiing. The best way to finish the day’s activities is a drink with friends in a local pub!
