Hi, I’m Heather and I am a final year PhD student on the Modelling and Analytics for a Sustainable Society DTP. My research focuses on modelling hormone regulated root growth in plants. In particular, my aim is to model root growth in crop species. Very excited to be organising PoS 2022!
I am a second year PhD student researching the development of a manual to enhance attuned interactions between care staff and residents living with dementia within care homes through the use of musical skills. My interests include reading, knitting, baking and climbing.
I’m Louisa, a forth year PhD student studying drug resistance and tumour progression in paediatric brain tumours. When not in the lab, I can be found running, swimming and cycling my way around Nottingham. Very excited to be organising PoS 2021!

Hi! I'm Sebastian and I'm a third year PhD student researching STATs. That's a family of signalling proteins that are key for coordinating our immune system and development. When I'm not in the lab I can be found in the gym, playing the bass, or on the airfield gliding.
Hi everyone, I’m a 4th year PhD student researching human metabolism by using Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy with hyperpolarisation. Enthusiast about travelling, pub quizzes and board games. Happy to be in the Beautiful Mind team for the 3rd year!
Beautiful Mind Lead
I’m a third year PhD student in chemistry, using lasers to try and look at things that are happening really really fast (like nanosecond fast). When I’m not doing that I’ll be dreaming of my next travel adventure, or more likely just in front of the tv with a cuppa.
Creative Reactions Lead
4th year PhD student looking at sustainable ways of preventing food spoilage. I get to work with mould on a regular basis! I'm into hiking and improv comedy. Passionate about communicating research and can’t wait for the results of art meeting science!
Finance Team Lead
Hi everyone, I'm Max and I've just finished my PhD in nanomaterials for water decontamination. I'm currently continuing my research at Nottingham and really excited to be part of PoS2021! When I'm not doing work or PoS finances I'm usually playing music, squash or more probably, down the pub!
Hi I’m Colette. I am in the Beautiful Minds team, and a second year BBSRC PhD student (Biotechnology and Bioscience Research Council). I use brain scanners and programming to learn more about how our brain works in health and disease.

Hi, I am Tia a 3nd year PhD using neuroimaging to understand developmental language disorders in children. Outside research I'll either be hiking, playing some rugby or cooking. I am looking forward to working on Our Society 2021 virtual event!
Hi, I'm Alexandra and I'm currently doing a PhD in Food Sciences. My project is about the role novel processing methods have on functionilising protein rich material. I love yoga and travelling/visiting new places. Pint of Science is an amazing event and I'm happy to be part of it!
I’m Tam, a Biotechnology undergraduate at heart and a money-keeper in mind. I'm crazily in love with bacteria, coffee and chocolate. I work with tiny organisms but I have big dreams. One of my dreams for the coming year is firing up 4 fantastic nights without bankrupting Pint of Science

I'm Jin but everyone knows me as Michael. I'm a first year PhD student researching DNA repairing enzymes across the domains of life. When not in the lab I like to bring science to kitchen, and usually, as with my experiments, my cooking/baking tends to end up in the bin. Looking forward to PoS21!
I’m Lauren, I am a second year PhD student studying molecular microbiology and biotechnology. When I’m not in the lab you can usually find me hiking in the countryside, attempting to sculpture clay or simply at the pub with friends. I am excited to be part of the creative reactions team 2021!
I’m Nikki, a first year PhD student studying plant science. I spend my lab days making chromosomes glow in the dark! When I’m not in the lab or the glasshouse, I’m usually with my dog Loki either on a walk, or reading whilst he’s snoring away.
