The mind is an extremely complex organ: we connect brief glimpses, pictures, and sounds to past events, triggered at a moment's notice. Music can elicit emotions we thought were buried long ago, as well as exacerbating our current feelings. However, impose rules upon the mind and we can end up in a self-destructive spiral - how often have you gone on a diet and ended up eating the entire contents of your fridge?
