Treating Parkinson’s and Alzheimer's: it takes guts!

Dr Katy Barnes (Researcher, Neuroscience)
Organs don’t exist in isolation - the gut and brain are in constant conversation, as has become apparent in conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Although their causes remain unknown, increasing evidence points to a role of the gut in the development and progression of these conditions. Our talk will explain this interaction and how our current research aims to exploit this conversation to identify new therapies, and the impact of gut bacteria on brain health.
