The Grandest Scales in our Universe
Examining the large scale structure of our universe has given cosmologists many opportunities to observe new physics and learn the origins of our existence. Dr Jennifer Pollack will lead us on a journey through cosmic time and space, unveiling some mysteries that had previously baffled cosmologists, while presenting new ones that inspire us today.
Supernova, Distance and the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics
Few people may realise the enormous amount of physics involved in one of the hardest quantities to measure in cosmology: distance! Mr Dario Scovacricchi will unravel the secrets behind the remarkable discovery - the subject of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics- that our universe is accelerating away from itself at every point in space.
