Understanding Schizophrenia
Professor Judith Pratt
Schizophrenia affects about 1% of the population worldwide but treatments are inadequate. I will discuss how risk factors for schizophrenia affect our brain and how increased understanding of these factors may lead to improvements in treatment.
Can we repair the injured brain and spinal cord: focus on cells from the nose
Professor Susan Barnett
Susan is a neurobiologist at the University of Glasgow. The focus of research in her lab is to devise strategies to repair the damage brain and spinal cord. In particular she is interested in the cells from the nose as a candidate for cell transplantation into the damage CNS. She will be discussing cell transplantation as a strategy for the repair of spinal cord injury.
