Cold water immersion – pill or potion?

Each year there are approximately 300 accidental drownings in the UK. It is thought that many of these drownings occur due to initial responses to cold water which include a gasp and rapid breathing alongside an increased strain on the heart. This talk will focus upon the science of cold water immersion and whether it really is that good for us?

It surprises many people to find out that approximately 2% of the population are ‘intersexed’ - people born with indeterminate sex. This talk discusses several biological causes of intersex/DSD conditions in humans, the subsequent medical treatment that these people might face and highlights areas of English law that need to be amended to best support them throughout life.
