A whistle stop tour through the Earth's climate and our influence on it; both in our past,  present, and future. The first talk is a history of climate and the discovery by scientists of Carbon Dioxide, and how burning more stuff is making the earth warmer. We then take a jump to the future to look at how we may be able to avoid changes our climate by using technology to change the atmosphere.

Climate Change - Past and Future

Dr Manoj Joshi (Lecturer in Climate Dynamics at the University of East Anglia )
Various records, from ice cores to ships logs can be used to tell us what climatic conditions were like in the past. Examining such past climate change can help us better understand our current climate and the change it is starting to experience. This talk by Manoj Joshi uses records of previous climate to put into context future climatic changes predicted over the coming century.

The Paris Agreement: More Than Just Reducing Emissions

Dr Nem Vaughn (Lecturer of Climate Change at the University of East Anglia)
The Paris Agreement sets out global aspirations to limit the impact of climate change. However achieving the goals of the agreement requires us to go beyond just reducing our emission of greenhouse gases, and start removing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. Dr Nem Vaughan will talk about her research on one of the ways we could remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere – using biomass energy to generate electricity and capturing and storing underground the resultant carbon dioxide.
