Moral Compass: how doctors and the public view medical sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic
Dr Paul Conway
(Senior Lecturer, Psychology)
Dr Paul Conway
(Associate Professor of Psychology)
During the COVID-19 pandemic, doctors have faced difficult sacrificial trade-offs regarding who to give medical care to. In this talk, we discover how doctors and the public think about such decisions. We will discover studies where real doctors made sacrificial decisions and explained their choices, and where the public rated doctors based on their decisions and explanations. What decisions and explanations promote trust? Results shed light on medical decisions and the moral questions we ask ourselves everyday.
Mind Games: Can you Trust your Mind?
Dr Ed Morrison
(Senior Lecturer, Psychology)
Can you trust your senses? Can you trust your memory? Can you trust your judgement? Join in with a series of demonstrations that showcase the hidden strengths and weaknesses of the mind. Experience illusions, and learn some tricks to fool your friends.
