Choice and knowledge are two strictly interconnected aspects of medical decision making. Choice and opportunity to access timely, accurate and relevant information is key, particularly in an age of ‘misinformation’ and ‘fake news’. Building upon the the law and policies concerning the administration of some healthcare services, during and beyond COVID-19, Dr Milo explores the challenges and barriers to health knowledge and shows how this has the potential to negatively affects patients.

Chemicals are all around us. Some are quite apparent, such as medicines and cleaning products, but others are less so. Chemical manufacturing is a significant and valuable part of the UK economy and the sector is aiming to become increasingly sustainable and adopt a more circular approach to production and dealing with waste. Policymakers have a key role to play in this transition and this talk will focus on the interplay between science, policymakers and the general public, highlighting some common misconceptions around chemicals and how policies can help us to achieve a more sustainable future.
