Improving physical activity for people with disabilities

James Haley (Doctoral Researcher)
I will use this event to talk about novel health behavior change interventions that have been used to improve physical activity for people with disabilities and reduce noncommunicable disease risk, such as cancers, heart disease and diabetes. Specifically, my talk will focus on the use of mobile health (mHealth), which in recent years has been identified as a helpful strategy for people with disabilities to overcome barriers to physical activity (e.g., transportation, cost, lack of knowledge) and to enable this population to undertake more regular physical activity.

Walking the tightrope and sailing the murky waters of menstrual health and support in sport

From menstrual taboos to ethical dangers, duty of care concerns to offensive sayings, stories of tumors to menstrual tracking and difficult conversations, sport staff must navigate uncertain and ethically grey waters when providing menstrual support to their athletes. Despite the importance of menstruation for athletes’ physical and mental health, the provision of menstrual support to athletes is often few and far between. In this presentation we will discuss the challenges practitioners face when delivering menstrual support and the value of supporting female athlete health – so fasten your life jacket, we’re in for a bumpy ride!

In this workshop we will go over some of the evidence we found which can reduce your dementia risk and improve your memory. We will show you some of the resistance band exercises and some of the foods and how to make them which we found can improve your memory.
