Drones have the potential to revolutionise military medicine. Our team will demonstrate how state-of-the-art drone technologies can be used to deliver medical supplies to war zones. Get your hands dirty by playing with non-Newtonian fluids as used in body armour and see the cutting edge in prosthetics for injured veterans. These and other experiments are perfectly safe and can be repeated using household objects. At this event, you'll have the chance to win highly-coveted Pint of Science merchandise, including pint glasses and t-shirts. This event is fully accessible.

Drones are the future, for better or worse!

Rob Siddall (PhD student, Imperial College London)
Recent developments in robotics and artificial intelligence are paving the way for self-driving cars, robotic surgeons, and autonomous flying robots (drones). The Aerial Robotics Laboratory at Imperial College London investigates new ways in which flying robots can be used to enhance life in the modern world, and using flight to expand human capability. Rob will run through several of the laboratory’s recent research efforts, including an aircraft able to dive in and out of water, robots which can build structures in trees, and robots which can repair pipelines from the air.
