Our world is the earth that we perceive by our senses in real-time. This world has expanded by the area of Internet of Things. In our home, in our city and in space, there are multiple devices exchanging information. With it comes many benefits and innovations: the new, one of a kind, fast-reactive robotic telescope is able to catch and capture from Liverpool any event as it happens in space; robot dogs and digital twins revolutionise construction and building. But then, there is also a dark side with the rise of cybercrime and deep fake.

A 4-metre Robotic Telescope made in Liverpool

Chloe Miossec (Scientist)
Dr Helen Jermak (Scientist)
Did you know that some of the most exciting events in the universe, like exploding stars, can happen in just seconds? To catch these very fast phenomena in space, we need a telescope that is fast, smart, and always watching. Enter the New Robotic Telescope, a project from the astrophysics department at LJMU! Building on the success of the Liverpool Telescope, a fully robotic 2-metre telescope on the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands, the New Robotic Telescope will be double the size of the Liverpool Telescope, with a 4-metre mirror, making it the world’s fastest-reacting telescope of its kind. When something extraordinary happens in space, it can move to the target in just 30 seconds! Join us to discover how this revolutionary telescope will help us catch the universe in action.
