Innovations for Wellbeing: Putting Women and Disability in the Spotlight

Climate change continues to increase the frequency, intensity, and duration of extreme heat events. Reductions in work productivity and heat illnesses, that are associated with extreme heat events, are largely avoidable with the implementation of effective heat mitigation strategies. Existing guidelines are underpinned almost exclusively by research conducted in males, without consideration of sex differences including the menstrual cycle and menopause. This talk will discuss avenues to change the existing landscape to better support females’ health and performance during extreme heat events.

The Invictus Games is a multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world. Last year, researchers from the University of Worcester travelled to Düsseldorf for the 2023 games to evaluate the impact the games have on the recovery of the competitors and their families.
