Do passive houses require passive living? What happens when your brain doesn't process information about your body correctly?

This event will include a viewing of some of our Creative Reactions artworks - art inspired by our Pint of Science speakers' research.

Do passive houses need passive people?

Dr Jill Zhao (Senior Lecturer)
Ultra-low energy for heating and cooling in the home is the promise from the German Passivhaus (or Passive House) Institute. But do you have to be a passive person to abide by the rules, and never interfere with the system?

Messing with the mind: Manipulating our body experiences

Dr Kirsty Miller (Head of the School of Psychology)
Our brain puts together feedback from our senses, along with information about how our bodies should look and feel. Sometimes these processes can go wrong, giving the sensation of an extra limb, the belief that body parts do not belong to us (or that they are bigger or smaller than they really are), or the feeling that someone else is controlling our actions. This talk will include body illusion demonstrations!
